Plan Ahead

If you would like your hair colored or permed, have it done at least a couple weeks before the wedding. This will allow the style to soften a bit and look more natural. Also, book a trim to ensure it looks neat and eliminates split ends for the big day. Planning ahead will give you time to achieve the look you want and work with any problems that may come up.

Do a Trial Run for Hair

Booking consultations with a few different stylists will give you the opportunity to find the one that works best with you. Once you’ve chosen your stylist, share some pictures of a few different looks and have your stylist do a trial run. Your hair may look different than what you saw in the magazine. Take a few pictures when your hair is done and make sure you love the look that will be forever in your photo album.
Don’t forget your hairpiece or flowers that you will be wearing the day of your wedding. Having a chance to work with them will give you time to decide the perfect setting for your day.

Confirm Prices

After you have finished your trial, confirm the cost of your hair/make-up services for the actual day. Salons may charge extra if they need to open and according to the staff they will need to service your party. You don’t want any “surprises” that day that might be upsetting or disappointing.

Wash your Hair the Day Before

Washing your hair the day of the wedding makes it harder for the stylist to set your hair. Wash it the day/night before and stay away from hot irons or heavy products.

What Not to Wear

On the day of the wedding, wear a top with buttons that can be removed without pulling it over your head. Anything that must be pulled over the head may ruin your perfect hair.

Make-up Tips

Make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturize your face well the morning of the wedding. If you have a particular make-up product that you wish to use in addition to what the salon uses don’t be afraid to bring it. (i.e. lipstick, blush, mascara) this way you can use it to touch up during the Wedding day.

Be True to the Real You

Always choose a style that you are comfortable wearing. You don’t want to look back at your wedding photos and not recognize yourself. If you’re not use to wearing your hair up, wear your hair down with some soft curls and maybe have it half up. Don’t be persuaded by your stylist into something that does not feel right. Remember this is your day!

Honeymoon Tip

Here’s a secret if you’re headed to a sunny destination for your honeymoon, keep your locks luscious by applying sunscreen on just the ends. It will keep damage to a minimum and preserve your color.
